File in '2025'
A rundown of 2025; farewell to Black Dog, Suede RFH, RSD Vinyl, TV & Film soundtracks, and upcoming tour with Cabaret Voltaire, 2026.
Another busy year of shows, releases, soundtracks and new beginnings. Thanks as ever to my team of amazing people who help me achieve impossible. Huge thanks to Steve, Hamish, Nathalie, Zoe, Redg, Charlie, Geoff, Dan and Ben for their continual support throughout this year. <3
Here’s a rundown of the releases, live shows, composing perks, and nice surprises of 2025.
Re-issues & RSD Limited Edition Vinyl
After a frustrating start to 2025 with the decision to withdraw from a year-long residency at an established London arts venue (for the jist, see this article - *SPOILER: they withdrew the Arms Conference*), the year quickly improved with the delayed arrival of my special edition re-issue of ‘Unflesh’. ‘Unflesh TEN’ missed its own 10yr anniversary date, but was ready to go in February, with updated cover design by Barnbrook Studio, pressed on electric blue vinyl, and signed A4 poster insert. If you want one, copies are still available here.
On 12 April, my first official RSD release in many years, ‘Shadow Dogs’ (Black Dog rework album) featuring; Gary Numan & Ade Fenton, BEAK>, Keeley Forsyth, Marta Salogni, Mark Jenkin, Penelope Trappes and Sealionwoman - immortalised on ghostly wax, as a limited edition for RSD 2025, with new artwork by Craig Humpston and sleeve design by Chris Reeder. Also pressed on minicab window clear vinyl especially for RSD, was my acoustic/electronic score for the 2024 Sony Pictures horror feature, ‘Black Cab’ starring Nick Frost 🥹, which I recently discovered is out now on DVD.
SUEDE Support & Farewell to Black Dog
Well, I for one would never have predicted an invitation to support Suede, but it happened. I eventually worked out how Brett might have heard about GT and immediately emailed The Quietus’ Luke Turner and John Doran to say a big thank you. No way it would have occurred without them and their support over the years.
As a one-off random support at the Royal Festival Hall, it all ran like a dream. I did a set of old and current material (for the first time ever - setlist below) and was greeted by Brett as I stepped offstage, holding his herbal tea in hand and looking magnificent. He’s a true gent. The real deal. And what a voice!
Huge thanks to Ben Eyes on sound and Dan Conway on lights that night too. We all had face ache from the continual smiling. Such a memorable, happy night.
For our final outing of Black Dog on 25 September, I couldn’t have wished for a better farewell venue than the ICA. Taken up last minute by wonderful promoter Babayaga’s Hut (who put on the very first Black Dog at Bush Hall back in 2023 almost two years to the day). I sang my heart, lungs and guts out to a jammed room, and felt every single moment of the audience’s energy; from my slicked head to my bare feet. Thank you so much if you were there. And, thank you to Teri Varhol for capturing the moments on camera so beautifully too. Special thanks to chair, lamp and rug. They’ve toured the UK for black Dog for 2yrs, and once belonged in the family home of visuals/lighting wizard Dan Conway.
A year in TV & Soundtracks
Uncanny Post Mortem - BBC Radio 4 / BBC 2
As a fangirl of the Uncanny Podcast/TV series, I was given the honour of being asked to create a theme tune for its BBC 2 / BBC Radio 4 after-show pod chat ‘Uncanny: Post Mortem’. The new series was televised and broadcast in March, so all the episodes are still up on iPlayer.
Mudtown (Ar y Ffin) - S4C / Severn Screen
In summer 2024 I worked on the Welsh drama series ‘Mudtown’ (Ar y Ffin) by writers Georgia Lee and Hannah Daniel. I loved making the instrumental music for this. A straightforward and deeply satisfying job from start to finish - “bish bash bosh” (in a lovely warm Welsh accent - I am 1/4 Welsh if you didn’t know). Invada kindly released the soundtrack in September on digital. Do take a listen if you haven’t already.
Summerwater - Channel 4 / Freedom Scripted
Made earlier this year, with another dream team in writing, editing, directing and producing. I infused the score with a LOT of Black Dog DNA, and the Director Robert McKillop also selected a very generous number of tracks from the album to include in the soundtrack. Could the brief have been any more of a dream? Robbie said, “reimagine the opening for Twin Peaks. Create something beautiful and terrifying at once..”. Well I gave it go. Summerwater is out now on digital only. Here’s one of my favourite beautiful/terrifying cues from it:
‘Unflesh’ on the Superman Official Playlist - WTF?
2025’s biggest surprise was seeing Gazelle Twin on a playlist featuring NIN, Aphex Twin, SOPHIE, Lorn, Arca, Trentemoeller, Royksopp, Burial, Chelsea Wolfe, hand-picked by James Gunn. I learned through the grapevine that he is a true underground music fanatic.
The only downside of this lovely thing, sadly, is that said playlists were made for the most detrimental and scandalous music streaming service known to musciankind. The sooner that platform is upended the better. I am just happy to currently be the coolest Mum to two Superman superfan sons. <3
2026 - Film premieres, new soundtracks & Cabaret Voltaire Tour
In 2025 I completed one a score for a new feature, that has become one of my favourite scores so far. A real departure from the sound and tone of previous scores, and a fruitful collaboration for a new dark comedy, The Fall of Sir Douglas Weatherford (BBC/BFI/Screen Scotland) by Sean Dunn, starring Peter Mullan, Gayle Rankin and more. It will premiere at IFFR International Film Festival Rotterdam in January 2026. I cannot wait to share the score with you.
In October 2026 I have the absolute honour of touring with Cabaret Voltaire on their final farewell tour EVER. See my website for the full list of dates and ticket links. I will be working on a new set especially for this tour mixing some old and maybe some new. I cannot wait to see you on the road.
So that’s it for this year. Thank you to all my subscribers on here. It feels like a joy to embrace long form comms again. I’ll be back in 2026 with some more news.
Wishing you all a peaceful festive break.
